Forum RP + Dice
« on: July 08, 2016, 01:09:02 PM »
So I'd like to brainstorm something. Firstly, if I haven't already made it abundantly clear, I'm a big fan of freeform roleplaying. Player driven stories, collaborative fiction, all that fun stuff. But I also enjoy threads that are loosely GMed. Freeform roleplaying does that just fine, mind; I binged on that stuff for over a decade. Nevertheless, things tend to get complicated in freeform RP when combat comes into play. A good thirty-something page thread can expire in a single out of character dispute over who beats who in a round of punchface.

Now that we have a decent enough dice roller, does anyone think using it would add to this style of roleplay? Some very small, simple kind of system, only ever used in case of player versus player interaction, so threads aren't bogged down with calls for dice rolls every other post.
. o O (I think I must agree with Sliss. The "Fat Chance" would have been a perfect name for our ship.)

I've had good experience with doing simple dice roll forum games, as well as running games like Pantheon.
