assume you're called to join one of those games, where you can pick someone to play as from any universe, canon, show or concept. What do you go with? Restoration of a thread from the old boards, if you missed it.

after a lot of consideration (The Scottsman from Samurai Jack, Chaptor the gentleman velociraptor, and the Heavy Weapons Guy), a Cards Against Humanity hand made me determine I'd play as a giant wicker mecha infused with the spirit of Nicolas Cage after his noble sacrifice

So what's your pick!?

Community Actual Play / I POSTED COCKLORDS!
« on: March 20, 2017, 10:33:48 PM »
I finally got a run a game I've been dying to do for a long time now. After someone called someone a "cocklord" a few years ago, I jokingly mistook it for a rank. After some bellowing in Space Marine voices about fantasy dick jokes, I swore to one day run a game where Cocklords ruled a land, and no one in the setting quite realized that everything in their serious and violent world was named after genitalia. I got a lot of the same response: "I want this to happen, but I couldn't stand to play it."

I finally got some guys to play it in Dungeon World. I'm incredibly pleased that they did and proud that I was not only able to run it, but we all kept up the spirit of occasional puns but otherwise, the absolutely most serious and straight-faced game I could run, of politics and kidnappings and war; just set in the kingdom of Domepeace at the pre-wedding feast of Cocklord Phallus and Lady Boner.

Forum Roleplaying / Disney Villains United
« on: September 20, 2016, 08:14:57 PM »
well done some forum roleplaying before, just nothing that really needed a GM. But I've been itching to find a place to run this, so let's see what we can do. DVV is a

Short version: on an Earth where every Disney movie within that general fantasy era is canon, except that the villains have all won in some capacity. Jafar rules Agrabah, the Huns rule China, Gaston slew the Beast and roams the world hunting more magical game, and Europe is being pulled apart by any number of mad queens, sorcerers, fae and popes. It's been about a generation since these black-hearted rulers came into power, and among the good folks, beasts and other entities of the world, a few start to rise up to set things right again.

Details are here. Not my making, just a project some guys on 4chan put together and tested a few times.

planning on a play by post, checking in every few days. A few basic things to note more than extra rules:

-I'm going to actively try to not make the world into "References: The Game." I didn't watch all the  tv shows, and I saw most of these movies once or twice. Please, do litter your abilities and origins with quotes and nods, but most common folks you'll meet are going to be random sorts. The major characters tend to mean trouble, our former protagonists are generally missing, hiding, or dead. Your party is the best chance for change now. It’s dark, but not hopeless. There’s good worth saving.

-All players don't need to be pure hearts or even necessarily heroic, but capable in their own right, willing to work with odd sorts (like the rest of the party) even if it means some bickering, and are willing to change the world for the better if it comes up. Conmen, knights, Christian crusaders, talking birds, fairies, farmers with something to prove, pirates, dinosaurs, wandering minstrels, half-llama mutants, Aztec warriors, amateur sorcerers, and minor demigods are all perfectly feasible characters with a half-assed excuse to be out and about. And with a world run by tyrants, there's always some good to be done, and, well... the grass is always greener, right?

-How did you come to be on the ship of William “Steamboat” Harper? Did you pay your way aboard or are you working it off? I have a basis of an idea where to start and take the story, but the party's origins and wishes will shape both immensely as needed.

Steamboat's a stout man getting on in years, with big mutton chops, graying brown hair, and a vague, traveled English accent. Any asking around gets some mixed results, but he's generally stingy to all but his friends, drinks like a fish, and he can get you just about any goods you'd imagine for the right price.
Any personal interactions find him a bit bumbling and slightly paranoid, but jolly, chatty, and wise about the world once he's comfortable.

-All players had a vision recently; a far too clear dream. A tall, blue-clad wizard, mulling over a pot in a poorly-lit room of stone. He speaks softly, leaving each dreamer to hear different words in different places. But he speaks of a terrible darkness that has overcome the world. Yen Sid can feel that the world has gone all wrong, and that someone has twisted it to be this way. The world needs a change, and you're the one to do it. Seek allies, rob the kings of their power at every turn, and do not speak the name of Chernabog. As soon as he says the name, the vision ends.

anybody onboard, feel free to whip up a character sheet or ask questions. figuring minimum of 2 and max of 6 players

General Discussion / It's An Old Fashioned [STAND]-Off
« on: September 14, 2016, 06:43:51 PM »
so I've been hearing a lot about this-here Jojo series

so what's your STANDO, forum? some fucker gets in your face with his psychic/magic chi powers personified, and you bust out your own Stand to defend yourself. What is it!?

bare bones rules that matter at all sometimes:
1. gotta have a music-themed name (normally a song, album, or a band
2. gotta have a power
3. fucking normies can't see Stands
4. be as vague or specific as you feel like in terms of details

there's also random generators out there if you can't make up anything yet

[HIGH-FIVE CITY] (a song by the Aquabats)
Appearance: a golden arm resembling a skeleton's, hovering about 2 inches above the owner's arm
Power: when the user raises their hand to indicate a high five, they can mark any target in their line of sight. The target is compelled to give the user a high five as their next action, and cannot move or act otherwise unless it is an action taken towards an open, barehanded slap to the user's palm. They can choose to stay still, but it will not break [HIGH-FIVE CITY]'s control unless the user lowers his arm. Anyone who high-fives the the user

Weakness: the Stand has almost zero offensive capabilities, and the target can hit the user's hand as hard as they wish.

Destructive Power D
Speed B
Range B
Durability C
Precision B
Developmental Potential B

Show Discussion / Questions of Games past
« on: September 14, 2016, 06:36:07 PM »
Since a lot of the older games had threads on the old board, felt right to make a "hey what happened to that guy in ___?" thread

mostly because it occurred to me: who was Blastmaster supposed to be? was he just an old demo expert from the army? or just a whimsical bandit psycho?

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/storygen.php

Step 1. Take this link. Open the links in separate tabs because it can reset your plot setup
Step 2. Make a plot out of it, and then a premise for an rpg game or campaign

Step 3.
Normal Mode: post your idea here
Hard Mode: run that shit
Impossible Mode: post the results here

General Discussion / Pokemon Go Discussin
« on: July 14, 2016, 06:49:00 PM »
so knowing that a few people on here have it, who here is on Pokemon Go?

how do you deal with the shaky servers? what's your strange catches and odd Pokestop checkpoints? what's with the religious undertones of every church, graveyard, and memorial being some sort of checkpoint?

I've had an entertaining but pretty mundane run of things, with most of my decent catches just being from evolving commoners. I, for one, immediately sold out my starter when I hatched another, stronger Charmander

Show Discussion / 7th Sea and other magical piratey things question
« on: July 01, 2016, 06:57:38 PM »
so given little knowledge of history and even less about 7th Sea, had a few questions about the parallel countries. I'm assuming the time period is a bit early for the American colonies to be a thing, but is there a magical pirate equivalent of Australia?
