Title: [BtSS] Character Sheets
Post by: Nayt on September 22, 2016, 09:57:45 AM
Sooo it's not entirely necessary to post character sheets for Beyond the Stellar Sphere, but if you want to, you are more than invited to throw them all into this thread. If nothing else, a few characters here and there will help inspire others to create in this setting! For my own purposes, I use a particular style for character sheets; you are by no means required to use it. I just like looking fancy, is all. If you want to use it, just quote this post to get the style right.

Spoiler: show
Name: Naming conventions are different everywhere. Surnames that refer to your place of residence are trendy again, though.
Age: The average lifespan is doubled; old age doesn't really start until 80 to 100.
Species: Human, Machinal, Wyrd, Specialis, Enceladite, Machine
Homeland: Colony, World. (e.g. Draal, Titan); orbital stations, Mars, Titan, Io, Enceladus, and Europa are the only places with well known, established colonies.
Physical Description: Height? Build? Preferred dress and hairstyle? Also any particular marks or physical quirks that makes them stand out?
Personality: What are they like?

-History-
A quick bio; doesn't have to be too long.

-Proficiencies-
A list of stuff they're good, plus some stuff they're bad at.

Name: Jack Rye
Age: 32
Species: Wyrd
Homeland: Mars
Physical Description: A tall slim man with well kept long hair. His skin tone suggest that his ancestors in the distant past hailed from the mediterranean. Jack dresses in the latest Martian fashion preferring flamboyant colours whenever possible.
Personality: Jack is a rich and entitled man who sees most others as beneath him. He frequently speaks about his family's riches back on Mars. He loves living the high life and spends money frivolously to fulfil his desires. He has a weakness for beautiful women.

-History-
Jack has a fairly tame history, spending most of his time on his family’s private compound on Mars. Despite his lack of common sense Jack has managed to avoid any major scandals thus far.

-Proficiencies-
Gambling, Charming personality

Name: Daphne 'Dap' Evette
Age: 28
Species: Augmented
Homeland: Titan

Physical Description: A short, slightly stout young back woman, Dap's augmentations cover roughly 75% of her body, encompassing her right arm, lower jaw, both eyes, legs, one lung and a significant portion of her spinal column. The augmentations were born of necessity, and although basic in function, they've been extensively modified and decorated over time with acid etching and lights built into the exposed joints. Dormant most of the time, they, along with her eyes, light up a brilliant shade of green. Dresses to show off her augs as best she can, but doesn't bare flesh lightly.

Personality: Loud, forthright, if not angry then definitely preparing to get angry, with an artist's temperament. Despite the limitations her augmentations put upon her, she constantly strives to live the life she used to lead, even when it winds up hurting her.

-History-
Born and raised on Titan, born into a family of skilled laborers and technicians, she was afforded an education she fumbled her way through, mostly on her superficial charm, while she focused on her greater passion: music. A devout fan of electronic music, she took what she'd learned at her mother's workbench to build a WavePan, a cross between a synth drumkit and a handpan. Two years and one Martian talent scout later, she'd signed a multi-million Credit contract. Everything was sweet. Parties. Drugs. Sex. Lots of all of those. Then she took a swan-dive out of a hotel window on her 27th birthday.

When she woke up, shattered into her most basic, fragile parts, the people who'd offered her so much weath made her an offer. Live a cripple, write off the contract. Walk away.

Or double down. We'll rebuild you. The kids will love it. The ultimate comback. The only musician to join the 27 Club and live. We can can do it.

We have the PR department.

-Proficiencies-
Music (Composition & Performance), Basic Engineering, Punching Fools Very, Very Hard
Weak Aug Security (Prone To Hacking), Stubborn, Fragile Ego

(http://i.imgur.com/oQQ5LWf.png)Name: Qara Agilos kan Terra (pronounced ker-ah ah-gee-loes)
Age: Eighteen.
Species: Wyrd.
Homeland: Born on Terra Nova, lived in Titan's Amber Hill colony.
Physical Description: Fresh into young adulthood, with another fifty years of youth ahead of her. Qara has short red-orange hair, reddish-brown eyes, and is rather scrawny looking. She has the classic spacefaring paleness, which she complements by wearing dark clothes.
Personality: Levelheaded, compared to her partner in "crime." She has a dry wit and a monotone sarcasm that blurs the lines of humor, sardonicism, and austerity. Qara enjoys exploration, discovery, taking the wind out of her partner's sails, playing tetherball, and the noisy return of math rock that is perverting the hearts and minds of kids these days.

-History-
Qara is certain she, as a full Wyrd (most of her brain being replaced with enhanced biomechanical parts), was born on Terra Nova. What she isn't sure of is how the got to Titan, a world where the greater Machinal anti-Wyrd cult is at its strongest. She was just a kid, had next to no education, no idea how to survive, and no real education on how to work the augments of her mind. She was taken in by a sympathetic Machinal priest in the small religious colony of Amber Hill, as the priest refused any of extremist Machinal teachings, embracing love and compassion over derision and isolation. There, she was educated in both scholarly and religious matters, and was eventually even accepted by the entirety of the colony.

It didn't last.

As soon as the cults discovered a Wyrd in Amber Hill, the worst of them--Machinalis Superioris, known for their cruelty and barbaric rituals to some greater machine-god--beset the colony and endeavored to destroy it. They were all fortunate that a particular treasure hunter was doing work for the colony at the time, and that he had a rather powerful starship with which to fend off the attack. He was mostly successful. Qara, feeling that her presence caused much of the trouble, left a note thanking the priest--whom she regarded as family--for all he'd done for her, assuring him that he'd see her again, and that she will carry his teachings everywhere she goes. With that done, she stowed away on the hunter's starship.

She's been his apprentice (and co-pilot) ever since.

-Proficiencies-
Infiltrating otherwise automated systems, merging her brain fuctions with starships, zero-g athletics (like tetherball), and tactical assessments.
On the other hand, Qara is not very socially adjusted, has a difficult time focusing when she's inactive, suffers from a bad case of insomnia, and is not trained in any form of personal combat.

Name: Zenniker "Zen" Kylos
Age: ???? (it can be hard to tell with Machinals)
Species: Machinal (mostly)
Homeland: Born on Titan, but has now spent more time traveling than he has on his home planet.
Physical Description: A young looking man with light brown synthetic skin and shoulder length dark brown hair; appears to be a normal human at first glance, as only strips on the bottoms of his palms and feet give away his machinal nature.
Personality: Normally laid back, with fits of impulsiveness and mania.  Zen enjoys it when life is easy, complains when life is tough, and loves it when life is really tough.

-History-
There once was a young boy who dreamed of the stars, raised on stories of adventure and treasure in the asteroid belt, and it became his dream to prove that those stories were true.  Unfortunately, he lacked the means to get there, so he did what any other ambitious youth would do: lie, cheat, and steal his way into a better body, useful augments, and eventually a starship.

Okay, maybe not any youth.

Like most treasure hunters, Zen is a bit of a hopeless dreamer.  Unlike most treasure hunters, he's gained experience primarily by barely surviving repeated disasters, cheating the wealthy and/or hateful, and sticking his nose where it doesn't belong whenever his interest is peaked or that pesky sense of justice he has wakes up again.

-Proficiencies-
Maneuvering using his lightweight body combined with powerful magnets in his limbs, small arms (as in guns, not limbs), hand-to-hand combat, piloting, "emergency maintenance", figuring out how stuff works.
On the other hand, he generally acts and looks like the kind of person most people would rather punch than talk to, and he's not nearly as good as he thinks he is at just about anything.  Also, being a machinal that occasionally uses Wyrd tech wins him no friends basically anywhere.

Name: Jesse Rison
Age: Twenty three
Species: Human
Homeland: Born on Terra Nova, currently residing on Mars in the Cheng complex.
Physical Description: Jesse is a slender man with long black hair and dark eyes. Sports a bright red trench coat that practically matches the rusty red of the Martian soil, and always carries a blade by his side. (The better to puncture a space suit with)
Personality: A go-getter, and not in a good way. He's an adrenaline junkie who wants fame and fortune, and isn't afraid to take it by force.

-History-
Jesse Riser (born Joshua McDowell) was born dirt poor on Terra Nova. The family had spent every last penny getting off the dying planet, but even as time passed their fortune never seemed to increase. Ever day seemed to be a struggle for them, and all he wanted was a path of his own to pave.

He thought that his ship had come in, both literally and metaphorically, when one of the Martian millionaires came to the station looking for servants. It seemed like a great opportunity. Living in the lap of luxury, even as a servant, was better than being stuck on Terra Nova for the rest of his life. He joined a large crew of able bodied men making their way back to Mars... But all that glitters is not gold.

Feeling uneasy during the flight, Joshua thought he would spy on his new employer, learn about them. He merely learned that the man didn't want servants. The richest men have the sickest tastes, and was planning on using them as toys for his own amusement. He decided he would take life into his own hands.

He caused a mutiny on the ship, vented their employer into space, and took control of the ship for himself. They made it to Mars, and took over a foreclosed compound that was apparently originally owned by someone named Chen.

Now, with a new name, a ship, a home, and a small fortune from the stolen credstick he got from his employer before tossing him out into space, Jesse plans on making his name and fortune known throughout the system as the biggest, baddest space pirate that will ever live.

-Proficiencies-
He is skilled with a blade, and is known for his infiltration skills. He can eavesdrop and lipread with the best of them as well, and has a certain gravitas which commands respect as a leader.
However, he is a glass cannon, and a loose cannon at that. Impulsive to a fault, he gets into fights he can probably win, but one good punch will have him on the ropes.
